So let’s make some time to reflect.
It’s been another long year. And I’m not sure how it’s felt for you but if you’re like me, it’s been trying my best to make the most of every moment and find joy in the little things. And trying hard not to be so hard on myself when I feel like I’ve completely failed at that.
I’ve been reflecting a lot lately about the past year – the past 2 years really that have felt like one ridiculously long melded year – and will soon put pen to paper in the gorgeous new journal I bought for myself. (Confession: I totally bought this for myself while Christmas shopping for others LOL – fellow journal lovers, check my IG for a pic and let me know what you think! ). Thoughts that come up that I want to explore more include things like:
What has happened in 2021 that was really hard for me? How’d I get through that & who was there to help me? I highlight those as proof and ways to get through future life challenges. What could I have done differently? I highlight those as room to grow. What things in my life went awesome? How did I do that & who was there to help me? I highlight those for things I want to keep doing more of next year.
What do I want to feel more of & less of? Physically & mental-emotionally & spiritually? What things do I do that can help me feel that? And what things do I do that keep me from feeling that? If you’re a Virgo like me, you’ll make a list of these and refer back to them to help keep you focused. Another thing that helped me is to focus on 1-2 things to start so I don’t get overwhelmed. Doing a more focused reflection like this at the end of 2020 really helped me make better health and life decisions this year, so I’m definitely doing it again this year.
If you journal too, you may have realized you need help with some of the health goals and feelings that come up – that’s totally normal. We’re not meant to know how to fix everything all the time.
