Stress and Adrenal Health

Stress & Adrenal Health

Every day we are faced with stressors: at home, at work, in our personal lives.

Chronic stress has been linked to the worsening of many health conditions including fertility issues, hot flashes, eczema, irritable bowel syndrome, and heart disease. The adrenal gland is the organ in our body that makes hormones like cortisol, epinephrine, and norepinephrine, all of which help our body deal with stress. Supporting adrenal health becomes especially important when we are dealing with many stressors on an ongoing basis.

Dr. Odette has combined nutritional changes and supplements, acupuncture, herbs, and lifestyle counselling to help people going through various stressful situations including:

  • Fertility treatments (natural or assisted reproductive techniques)
  • Grief from loss of a loved one
  • Work transition (starting a new job, job loss, retirement),
  • Caregiving for an ill family member
  • Suffering from anxiety and excessive worry
  • Feeling overworked at work and/or at home
  • Feeling increasing irritability, short temper and road rage

We are never going to eliminate stress completely from our lives, but we can use various natural therapies to improve our body’s physical and mental-emotional ability to deal with stress effectively. By developing an individual stress management plan, we can feel confident in facing any stressor with an abundance of physical and inner strength.

Did you know?

The adrenal glands are triangular shaped glands that sit on top of the kidneys. They are responsible for producing & releasing hormones that help us manage stress effectively:

  • cortisol
  • epinephrine (also known as adrenaline)
  • norepinephrine (also known as noradrenaline)
